Clara's Tea Party and Our First Nutcracker Performance

I took ballet lessons from the age of 5 until I was 14 years old.  I wasn't that great of a ballerina, and I certainly wasn't lithe or graceful. However, I adored the movement, the music and the lessons, at least until I became interested in boys and other lofty things. I want my daughters to develop the same love and appreciation for the ballet.

Today was a day I had been anticipating since I gave birth to my first daughter.   I found a performance of the Nutcracker by the Vacaville Ballet with a tea party immediately preceding the matinee performance.  It seemed like the perfect opportunity to introduce my girls to the Nutcracker. Clara and her Doll made an appearance at the tea party.  Ansley was completely enthralled.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  I know I did. After we returned home, they acted out their favorite parts.  I think they're hooked. I know I am.

I don't think that we are all destined to be prima-ballerinas. (I know I certainly wasn't.) The point of taking classes as young girls is just like you said, to develop an appreciation for the arts.

It looks like your girls are off to a smashing start!
