The California Tree-Huggers

No, I haven't abandoned my conservative Southern upbringing, but I am in love with a tree, a fake Christmas tree that is.  It came from Costco and I LOVE IT.  It is so lifelike and so perfect!

My husband and I have had a real Christmas tree for thirteen of the last fifteen Christmases. Once we were traveling to Atlanta during Christmas and once we were in limbo moving , so it didn't make sense to put up a tree.  Last year we agonized over whether or not to buy a fake tree, but this year we did it.  We sold out.  We're one of the masses.  More than half of Americans have a fake tree at home and now we're one of them.  The only other time I felt like this was when we traded in our super-cool SUV for a Mini-van.

I'll miss the annual trip to the Christmas tree lot to pick out our tree.  I'll miss vacuuming the needles, watering the tree (careful to make sure no water gets spilled on the floor, even threading [and unthreading] the lights through all the branches.  On second thought, maybe I'll just buy some Febreeze pine room spray and be completely fine with our [my] decision!

You and Keri inspire me with your stories regarding journeying over to the "other side" and buying fake trees. LOL! You must have seen her post where she included a photo of the pine scented candle that she put on one of the branches to similate the "fresh pine scent"? Too funny.

A fake tree is definitely something that I will have to look into next year. As I had to crawl on my stomach this morning to water the tree and pick up pine needles, your alternative is looking pretty good!
