Family Tradition.

When my husband was eight years old, he fell at the skating rink.  When his mother arrived to pick him up, he was holding his two front teeth in his hand while bleeding profusely from the mouth.

Unfortunately, my son followed in his father's footsteps this past weekend.  Fortunately however, Clayton lost his baby teeth rather than his permanent teeth.  I will spare you the gory details, but the last couple of nights I've been jolted awake several times after dreaming about the event.  I liken it to post-traumatic stress disorder. Fortunately again, Clayton has barely noticed. I tried to show him his missing teeth in the mirror and he didn't seem to care.

Yesterday, we went to the oral surgeon for x-rays.  There was no damage to his jaw or his permanent teeth.  It should take about three weeks or so for the trauma to his lips and gums to heal.  (I will also spare you a picture of his new gummy grin until such time as his mouth heals.) Until then, here's the last known photograph of my 2 year old with his two front teeth.

I'm so sorry...that sounds traumatic for everyone. Sounds like your little man was pretty brave.

OMG, this is always my worst fear when they fall on their face and come up with blood everywhere! You're right though, at least they were baby teeth!
